Privacy Policy

Mekora ("Mekora", "we", "us") provides a dating and short-video platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. By using Mekora you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account: email, password (hashed), display name, birthdate, gender/pronouns.
• Profile: photos, bio, city, interests, prompts.
• Activity: swipes, matches, messages, reports, blocks, streaks, notifications.
• Device & usage: IP address, user agent, session and diagnostic logs, crash data.
• Payments: Mekora is completely free, so we do not collect or store payment card data. Historic billing records from earlier paid plans are retained only where the law requires.
• Identity verification: if you choose to verify, our secure in-app verification flow captures your ID images and selfie for review. Mekora receives only: verified yes/no, an 18+ confirmation, and the document expiry date.
• AI Companions: conversations with Mekora AI are stored to preserve context.

1a. ID verification

ID verification is optional and used solely to confirm you are a real person aged 18 or over and to prevent fake profiles. Document images and selfies are transmitted encrypted directly to our identity provider and are never stored on Mekora's systems. We store only the minimum result data described above, plus the number of attempts so we can prevent abuse. The provider's copies of your ID images and selfie are deleted (redacted) as soon as the check is settled. We never store or display your ID number, address, or date of birth, and verification data is never used for advertising, discovery, matching, or any unrelated purpose. Access to verification records is limited to a small number of trained safety staff and every access is logged. Other members see only an "ID Verified" badge.

2. How we use it

• Operate the service: matching, messaging and notifications.
• Safety and moderation: detect abuse, enforce Community Guidelines, respond to reports.
• Improve the app: aggregate analytics, bug fixes, model quality for AI Companions.
• Communicate: transactional emails (login, receipts, safety), optional product updates.

3. Legal bases

We process personal data to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests in running a safe product, to comply with legal obligations, and — where applicable — with your consent (e.g. push notifications, marketing email).

4. Sharing

We share data with vetted processors that help us run Mekora: hosting and database (Lovable Cloud / Supabase), our payment processor, OpenAI (AI Companion responses), email delivery, and analytics. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.

5. Retention

We keep account data while your account is active. When you delete your account (see Delete your account), profile content is erased and your login is removed. Some records (payment receipts, abuse reports, safety logs) may be retained for a limited period as required by law.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most rights directly in the app (edit profile, download data on request, delete account). Contact privacy@meetmekora.com for help.

7. Children

Mekora is 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure; report suspected issues to security@meetmekora.com.

9. Changes

We'll post material changes here and, where required, notify you in-app or by email.
